Airline Transport Pilot

An Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP) is the highest level of aircraft pilot license. In order to become an ATP, all maneuvers must be performed to FAA standards. Flight time requirements will be tailored to the individual.

You must hold a commercial pilots certificate and instrument rating to start training for an ATP certificate. You must be at least 23 years of age. You must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.

Once all flight time requirements are met, all maneuvers are to FAA standards, and an FAA written exam is passed, it is time to take the FAA practical exam (check ride) with a designated pilot examiner. This consists of an oral examination and a flight in which you must demonstrate all the maneuvers that you have learned.
